As you guys know, Jamison and I bought a new sofa and rug (did I mention the fabulous rug?) on MLK after my weekend of post-oral surgery recuperating.  For a girl like me, a stroll across a non-crowded mall after sofa success led to a few impulse purchases.  (At least I am owning it.)

Here is what I got:

Bow Accent Floppy Hat from Forever 21 – $10.80 You guys know that hot pink is one of my heavy signatures, so I am certain you are not at all surprised by this one.

Metallic Knitted Beret from Forever 21 – $8.80 You know how I love stocking up on cute beanies to elevate a casual look and protect cold ears in winter!

Gianni Binni Bette Peep Toe Wedges – $79.99 I could not bear to leave them in the store.  Cute and will be comfy post-break-in.  (I hope.)  Joie, where are your feet when I need them lol? ;)

While scouring the “going out of business” Blommingdales location at Perimeter, I also found this amazing kate spade bib necklace that I decided I could not live without…

Because the $398 necklace was already on clearance for $278, I got an additional 30% off.  Add in Jamison’s stocking stuffer gift card, and I spent around $190 for this showstopper. And Jamison was in agreement that I HAD to have it!  :)

Have I told you about my beloved vintage sofa?  Six years after coming home with me, it is on its last leg.  So, we gathered ourselves up and hit the January furniture sales.  And while I was initially hoping for the 2 seater sofa plus chaise sectional, we found this fantastically gorgeous sofa and could not resist it.

It’s the Martha Stewart Saybridge Sofa in honey, a warm tan.  And it was on sale for $999 plus 10% off.  Because the color is custom-selected, it will takes 8-10 weeks to deliver. :( (The grey color, Storm, pictured below was great too.

What I’m Rocking: Red Versace Afternoon

I wore this ensemble for the tree lighting ceremony in our town last month, but I just stumbled upon the pics.  I am SO into this jacket (that I bought on a recent trip to Goodwill with Amy) and I love the silhouette the jacket cuts:

Red embellished Cache blazer:  Goodwill – adore everything about it and got instant compliments at lunch

Back v-neck favorite tee:  Gap Outlet – I always get a few of these whenever I hit the outlets.

Black Denim the Rock Star Leggings:  Old Navy – Yes, I own SEVERAL pairs of these.

Black leather Matisse motorcycle boots:  DSW – Yes, I also have THESE in brown too.  They are truly great leather and pretty comfortable.

Gold teardrop hoop earrings:  Forever 21 – I love these.  And also own multiples.  Obsess much lol?

What I’m Rocking: Black, White and Yellow in Savannah Square

I had so much fun with Jo’ie and Jamison hanging out in Savannah after Christmas.  Here is a great example of my “look” for the entire trip:

Black beanie:  Forever 21 – a score from last year

Leopard pashmina:  Chinatown – bought this in NYC back in 2007

Ray Ban Wayfarers:  Beyond the Rack – got this last Christmas

Black trench with white piping:  TJ Maxx – this was my last birthday present to myself last year

Black Denim the Rock Star Leggings:  Old Navy – these are from my last score in spring

Yellow wedge rain boots:  One of those Savannah boutiques – I got these back in 2007 on a work trip.  Boy are those white soles looked tired and BROWN!  It was supposed to rain all three days we were there but it was sunny and bright and pretty warm on most of the days.

My 2012 Rules for Living

I am not a resolution kind of girl, but I have laid out a few great ground rules for this year.  I am hoping you can keep me honest and on track.  (I often struggle with accountability.)  So here goes:

  1. Better appreciate my husband
  2. Stay skinny (AKA stay focused on healthy eating and regular exercise)
  3. Continue to focus less on acquiring things

Honorable mention:  Pay off all credit card debt by summer, which I initially completed last spring but suffered a hiccup when my dad died.

I can feel that it is going to be a great year.  Hello – I leave for Paris in less than 3 weeks!  What a great way to get 2012 popping.

No Bah Humbug Here (Well, At Least Not Anymore)

I am going to admit it.  I was feeling a little grouchy this year about Christmas.  Each year, we drop about two mortgage payments on Christmas gifts for our friends, family and of course, ourselves.  And I kept finding myself feeling super cheated when it was all over.  I know that you do not give in order to receive… BUT when you give thousands of dollars, you expect to get a FEW awesome things, you know?

So this year I was very open about all the things I wanted.  And I purposefully mostly posted affordable items for my friends and family to purchase.  That means that some things I really want, like a new chandelier, large hide rug, food processor and another pair of Louis Ghost Chairs didn’t even make the LIST – at least not the public list.

And I think my strategy was super effective.  Here is what I scored:

Olive Wedge Hunter Boots – to be stylishly dry in rainy Southern winter weather.  Thanks, Britt!

Benefit Cha Cha Tint (OMG I got two, I will exchange one for Clarisonic deep pore cleansing brush set)

YSL Touche Eclat in Light Peach – thank goodness, I JUST ran out five days before Christmas

Grey and Burgundy turtlenecks; Black pashmina - b/c I am the kinda girl who has them in every color except any neutral color.  Thanks, Amy. - not pictured

Z Gallerie Small Deer Heads – FINALLY!!!  For the dining room!

Z Gallerie Gelato Trays in Mango and Black – cuz I am quite the tray collector

Johnnie Walker Black 1.75L – courtesy of my fave Shabazz family

Nars Orgasm Blush – who knew I could love such a subtle cheek color?

???Amy Lotion and Body wash??? – I am certain she picked it purely for the packaging, which is super sexy!

Gucci Guilty Intense – I was planning to score it at the duty-free shops, but Jo’ie surprised me with it.

Laphroaig 10 Years Old Scotch - I scored THREE bottles of this for Christmas.  Am I a lush or what?

Hello Kitty Beverage Dispenser – for making signature cocktails at parties :)

Charter Club Red Rhinestone Jewelry Set – this is just the little pop I need with solid cocktail dresses

Bloomingdale’s Gift Card – nothing like the gift of shopping

Macy’s Gift Card – another gift of shopping.  My life rocks. :)

TLC Crazy Sexy Cool – because my husband knows I’ve never owned it though I love it.

So now, all those Christmas gifts I so carefully selected feel much less unrequited.  And I can honestly say that my people were very pleased with their gifts too.  Though my favorite Christmas memory came courtesy of Isis, my favorite 2.5 year old.  We presented her with her Harajuku Mini ensemble and she promptly asked to change into it.  Then she tried to steal the $50 bill that we got for our favorite college student, Najja.  That is MY kinda girl!

And as for our gift to ourselves, check THIS out:

Moderustic Fireplace Burner with Fire Glass - I can’t wait to install now that we’ve taken the tree down.  Oh yeah, remote bi%che$. ;)

Blow Your Paycheck Friday: Michael Kors Grayson

As we were walking through the mall to the photo studio for headshots last week, a beautiful piece of candied apple sequins caught my eye in the Michael Kors boutique:

And let me tell you, if I had not JUST bought my beloved Rebecca Minkoff Jet Setter bag, it would have definitely come home with me.  But it wasn’t even on sale.  And I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the entire mall was on sale.  But no sale at MK?  Well, guess what.  I ain’t paying retail for a bag made of sequins.  It just ain’t going down.  But when she goes on sale, I will rock rock rock the HELL out of that damn bag.  For realz.  Post Paris I suppose…

Girl Crush Wednesday: The Girls of Pan Am

I hope that you guys are just as into Pan Am as I am.  Really, I love that show – the fashion, the cocktails, the politics, the plot.  What a great way to spend some time.  So I am dedicating this week’s girl crush to all of my favorite Pan Am stewardesses.

If only I could convince myself to carry a weekend bag.  I am so into the “rollie suitcase” that I just can’t even bear a duffel bag LOL.  And they all clearly agree with my principle that jackets should be so tight you can’t lift your arms. ;)

OMG, I SO die for this flowy, bohemian dress.  Gucci is killing it right now:

And it’s even on sale for $1589.99 at Saks.  What a steal, right?

I have been in love with Camilla Belle since that terrible movie with the beautiful house – the remake of “The Stranger.”

And boy, does she keep getting better…
