I saw this amazing ruffle skirt and was instantly in love. The tiers of silk organza and wool velour ruffles make the piece so feminine. But at $1,995.00 I am going to need Forever21 or Express or some other affordable non-designer situation appears with a similar look:
You can get it at saks.com.

So, last week was full of conversation about a previous girl crush: Lindsay Lohan. BTW, what the f%ck was she thinking painting f%ck on her fingernails? Is she for real crazy now? Jory inspired me to feature the lady behind the sad, lost Linds - Shawn Chapman Holley, who has defended the likes of Nicole Ritchie, the Kardashians, Paris Hilton, OJ Simpson, Michael Jackson (lord rest his soul) - you know, lost Hollywood souls. I love her keen fashion sense and killer gams (I mean she is also a celeb at this point):
I must admit, I preferred her longer hair. Maybe she’ll grow it back before she needs to represent crazy Kourtney Kardashian’s beau, Scott. He is bound to end up in jail for something, right?

On Saturday, I headed out for a night on the town in the Virginia Highlands:
Navy & white polka dot dress: H&M – I bought this in Boston last month and I’ve already worn it twice. I love the ruching at the shoulder and ruffle across the skirt.
White lizard-print vintage belt: Thrifted – I’ve had it for years and wear the hell out of it.
White vintage handbag with chain handles: Consignment store – I’ve had it forever and this was my first time wearing it. Boo to me for not wearing it sooner.
Gold bangles: NYC street corner in Soho – I wear these a lot when I want to be sparkly.
Gold, sapphire and CZ cocktail ring: Consignment shop – the same one I got the purse at back in Pittsburgh. This is my fave cocktail ring but it’s too big (I think a size 9 and I’m a 6.5), so I have to be careful that it doesn’t fall off.
Rhinestone flower stud earrings: Not sure where I got these, but I’ve had them forever and this was the first time wearing them. I’ve got to step my game up on rocking what I own. I sense I need to do some “shopping in my closet” posts soon.
Pave Diamond wedding band and Michael Kors stainless steel watch: These are my two every day jewelry pieces, and Jamison bought them both for me.
Thanks, Babelicious!!!!!!!!

Check out my Fourth of July ensemble:
Royal Strapless Cotton Dress: Express - Jamison got this for me on sale a couple of years ago. It is definitely my favorite summer dress b/c it’s all cotton. I am sad I don’t own it in EVERY color.
Red Flat Slouchy Boots: I bought these in London in fall of 2007 for 20 pounds (back when it was basically $2 to 1 GBP.) And I still love them. I wore them for the 4th last year, and everyone asked, “Are you wearing boots?” I plan on wearing boots EVERY year for the 4th now lol.
Blue and White Flower Pin: I got this at NY & Company on clearance for $1.99 last fall. I needed some white in my outfit!
White Enamel & CZ “Championship” Ring: I bought this for myself for Christmas at TJ Maxx for like $14.99 a couple of years ago. (I always get myself at least one new piece of jewelry from the TJ Maxx rack at Christmas while searching for great gifts for my friends.) I love it’s blingtastic status.
Royal Blue Studded Headband: I got this at Charming Charlie’s last fall when Robin was in town. And I love it! Of course, this was the first time I actually wore it…

We all know that Alexander McQueen was a genius, and that sadly, he is no longer in this world with us. (Surely he is hanging with other fabulous folks making them appear even more fabulous though.) This grey denim motorcycle jacket would be a perfect piece to toughen up all those nautical stripes and sequins I love so much:
But at $1785, this jean jacket is out of my price range even if if represents the last work of Alexander McQueen the fashion god. If you want to make the investment, you know you can find it at saks.

Elie Saab – red, metallics, neutral and pattern go crazy in this show! I love the juxtaposition of short and long / flowy and structured with a vintage feeling.

Chanel – Karl went a little stuffy with the day suits – they all seem a bit too retro for my liking. Then there were some looking ensembles in the middle. And then the final ones got quite wacky… Not so sure I’m in love this year.
But at least I loved the giant lion backdrop (super glam):

I love, love, love interior design. But I have not really been all about designers. I really believe in following your own creative intuition and hunting for the pieces that express your own personal style. But I LIVE for Kelly Wearstler. Her aesthetic is so dramatic, so vibrant, so graphic, so colorful. And she is one HOTTIE! (I have always been a sucker for Southern girls, and Kelly is from South Carolina. Playboy felt the same and featured her as a Playmate in 1994.)
Feel free to check out her design site. And feel free to get me her design books for a present.

While I did opt to not cover the menswear fashion shows, I couldn’t resist picking my favorite couture dresses. I can’t wait to see which stylists share my tastes on the red carpet.
Armani Prive – metallic, sequins, column dress – am DYING!
All Armani Prive collection images courtesy of style.com.
Christian Dior – I’m not sure what I love more – the background or the bright colorful clothes in interesting shapes that are still figure flattering. OMG, I want SO many of these pieces.

I just wanted to share some inspriation for what Jamison and I have agreed for our dining room. I am hoping we can get started with the update next month!
I’d like re-cover the dining room chair cushions in zebra (from too-traditional toille.)
The black painted walls in Casimir’s Lounge were a huge inspiration! With our white molding, it will really pop.
Jamison and I decided that the dramatic contrast of turquoise and orange accents will be so dramatic, so we are looking for great orange dinnerware to dress the table.
We are keeping the turquoise sideboard in the space. (Above pictured is similar.)
I love this orange and turquoise art piece from Color Splash: Miami
I am so in love with this large-scale mirror with zebra trim. (Yes, it’s also from Color Splash: Miami. I DIE for David Bromstad! Cute and talented? Yum-o! Call me when you’re in ATL, David.)
Louis Ghost armchairs will be a finishing touch to replace our current chairs for the heads of the table. Christmas presents, hello!
We have a few trips coming up over the next month (read – need to save our money now), so we are hoping to get started on this project soon after. I am SO looking forward to the final product, which of course I’ll be featuring right here on clearlyfabulous.

Since I was a little girl, I have loved the 4th of July. I am a sucker for pretty fireworks displays, wearing red/white/blue ensembles, swimming pools, watermelon, BBQ and good times with family and friends. So that means I wait all year for the 4th of July.
Today I look forward to all the classics:
-
Spending time with my family and friends (especially can’t wait for Aunt Dawn and Aunt Winnie, they’re kind of my faves and I don’t get to see them often)
-
Eating grilled spareribs (yummy even if super fattening and high in calories) and hamburgers with our delicious, garden-fresh tomatoes and jalapenos
-
Wearing my favorite blue dress with white and red accessories (I might wear my red boots I bought in London just like last year)
-
Drinking white wine and ice cold beer all the live long day
-
Avoiding mosquitoes at all costs (am strongly considering that Off clip-on repellant)
-
Dancing with gold parklers and avoiding snap and pops thrown at your feet (why do boys still throw them at you? ick)
-
And – just like every day – being SUPER grateful for the troops risking their lives to protect my right to pursue fabulosity
