Since this week marks the beginning of season 4 of “True Blood,” I thought it best to feature the sexy gap-toothed Anna Paquin:
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Sookie this season… with the witches.

So, you guys have been (patiently) listening to me go and go about painting the dining room black since last summer. First when I visited The Mansion in Savannah in June. In July I started planning ideas of what it could be like. This weekend, we FINALLY got around to painting the dining room.
Before:
After:
Yes, there is still much to do: rug, mirror over buffet, animal heads flanking door, original art (just wait, it’s gonna be super cool), more orange accessories, re-doing the chair layout/colors/upholstery (need another ghost chair for this) and adding an upholstered pad on the dining bench. But I am so motivated now!

OMG, I am a sucker for a t-strap. And ostrich. And platforms. And peep toes. And Gucci:
At $895, they are not cheap. But they are Gucci and they are timeless. And they are at Saks. (And they are new for fall.)

I became obsessed with cute blouses shortly before my trip to San Francisco. This top immediately inspired me in the Napa Ann Taylor Outlet (so much so that I bought two other similar tops.)
Black, white and grey print top: Ann Taylor Outlet – This was on clearance for something like $30, which for me is a lot for a top so you know I was digging it. I like the look of the silk in a machine washable textile.
Black Adrienne Vittadini wrap skirt: Marshall’s – I got this for $10 on clearance one Sunday morning around Christmas before heading to the gym. Ironically, it’s the first time I’ve worn it since then.
Black, purple and grey suede platforms: DSW – I got these last year when shopping for Amy’s birthday. They are still among my fave shoes – tall, stylish and comfortable - especially for around $50.
I totally meant to wear a great necklace but totally forgot that step in the dressing process since I was hosting an early conference call…

I am fully in the swing of the “Treme” season. There has been lots of drama this season (I can’t even speak of the crazy event from the latest episode in case you haven’t seen it yet.) Poor LaDonna has been through so much this season and now her husband has found out about (real) tragedy that happened when she was robbed. It made me think of how awesome Khandi Alexander is, especially in this role:
What a beautiful, complex character. I wonder how her story will evolve…

Update: After calling FedEx this morning, I was given a case number. Guess what I heard this afternoon… My doorbell ring. Guess what it was – the plates! They are going to be perfect.
We already have moved all of the items from the dining room. I taped off the doorways and wiped down the walls and molding. Jamison went scouting the right paint options. I’ll pick up the paint later this week and get to painting this weekend. Now we need to settle on the right animal head from Z Gallerie…
I have been sitting around anxiously awaiting the arrival of my CB2 BBF dinner plates, which were on sale for $2.50 each.
I’ve even committed to painting the dining room (Finally!) this weekend because of them.
So imagine my sadness when they were not here waiting for me this evening. Imagine even more surprise when – according to the tracking site – they were allegedly delivered at 6:28 – while I saw at home, downstairs? So I checked outside. I checked the neighbors’ front doors. But no damn plates. And then I call FedEx and their system is down? Bull$hit!!!
I am pi$$ed, people. This ain’t right. And now I can only rant until to you guys the system is back up in 30 minutes.

I dreamed up this simple yet adorable ensemble on Sunday afternoon. I envisioned wearing cuter shoes but since we had happy hour at Pappasito’s after work, I really wanted to be comfortable:
Lavender tissue tee: Gap – I scored this at the Union Square Gap in San Francisco for an extra 40% off. That means it was $5.99 after all discounts.
Black & white graphic Adrienne Vittadini pencil skirt: Ross – I got this one Saturday afternoon in early April that I decided I needed a mini-shopping spree. It was $22.99, but I need to spend a few bucks to have the slit pockets on the hip sewn shut. Surely a (straight) man’s design error…
Enzo Angiolini black croc printed slingback pumps: ShoeWoo.com – I am so glad I picked these up during the site’s closing sale. So comfy!!! I also got the gold but am kind of wishing I’d bought two blacks and the pewter as well. I think I paid something like $60 for two pairs with shipping!!!
I enjoyed the stuffed jalapenos and mini matador nachos along with an icy cold draft Shiner Bock. I love going to Pappasito’s for happy hour (really anytime.)

You guys know that I have been on the hunt to upgrade my dining room for quite some time. I found the perfect affordable sale plates ($2.50 each) at CB2 to re-inspire me to focus on finishing my project:
BBF Dinnerware – I got the dinner plates
The goal is black & white with pops of orange and turquoise. I am dying for black & white striped curtains:
Here is an affordable option though not as chic:
Black & White Grommet Panel Curtain – Amazon $24.99
And you KNOW I need some animal heads to flank the doorway:
Deer Head - Z Gallerie $49.95
Or should I go with a gazelle head…?
Gazelle Head Wall Plaque - Z Gallerie $49.95
The animal heads would look so hot in this frame:
UNG DRILL – IKEA $29.99
I’m kind of feeling these white parrots too:
Parrots on a Branch - Z Gallerie $14.95
I am also digging these black and white stripe paper lanterns too though I am not sure what I’d do with them:
Lanterns - Z Gallerie $12.95
And I still need my hide rug too:
KOLDBY Cowhide rug – IKEA $199
What do I want the whole room to “feel” like?
Isn’t it going to be fab? I am not sure where the orange is coming in though…

I was bummed when I failed to score a fab white one-piece Rosa Cha swimsuit for $60 during a flash sale back in April or May. I’ve been seeking a sexy, chic white swimsuit for years.
My last white swimsuit (courtesy of Victoria’s Secret, where I no longer shop) turned yellow and was discarded years ago. Imagine my pleasure when I found this Jantzen vintage-inspired Vamp suit (I also have it in pink) on HauteLook for only $21:
It’s also available in turquoise! If you still haven’t joined HauteLook, feel free to sign up using my invite.

Sometimes you just have to gasp at the most perfect shoe EVER:
The combo of suede and python is SO sick. I love the criss-cross straps and think platform. I basically DIE for these freaking shoes. But they cost $1185. So sad. YSL, why must you do this to me?
Get them at Saks.
