Just when I was totally over Gucci after the disappointment of the Vintage Web Boston Bag, I spied this fabulous little creature.  What is it about the Guccissima burgundy leather?  And a tassel on a handbag?  It is so fantastic!

Why is it $2450?  Get it at Saks.

Girl Crush Wednesday: Allison Williams

I’ve slowly convinced myself to enjoy the new HBO show, “Girls.”  It took a while, but I find it hilariously insanely wrong.  There are some saving graces, like how gorgeous Allison Williams is – even if her character is pretty sad right now post-breakup.

I hope Marni’s story gets better soon.  It’s way sad for me right now.  Although I’m sure I was even more pathetic than her at some point in my 20’s over some boy or other.

The Ideal Me: An Exercise

I’ve been meaning to write this for a while.  It was inspired by Fit-Whit’s blog from a few weeks ago.  I got to thinking that my anxiety and depression may be stemming from not really living the life I feel I was meant to.  What life do I really want to live?  Who is the Ideal Me – the Michelle I actually want to be? I doubt it’s all about the rock star, rich girl I’m not.

-Connected to the Earth, the universe and God in my own way but paying respect in an outward way

-A great sister, supporting daughter and unconditionally loving (and not nagging) wife

-Physically fit and makes activity a priority and a hobby

-Prepares delicious and healthy meals 80% of the time, indulge in just what I want the other 20

-Finds fantastic scores while hunting for vintage and designer goods but doesn’t live to shop

-Keep my cool under pressure and handle anxiety in a healthy way

-Has a strong network of people I spend time with on a regular basis and they know me but still love me anyway

-Is debt-free and fiscally savvy and teaches others about the importance of financial freedom

-Gives back to the community in a regular and meaningful way

Now the question is what actions am I going to put in place to actually become this Michelle?  And how soon can I become her?

Random Acts Can Be Transformative

You guys know I’ve been a little down in the dumps lately.  But I’ve had some good luck lately.  A lovely card from an old friend complimenting me on my ability to help her tap into her true self.  Attending a Spelman College graduation event and leaving with a greater sense of sisterhood and community.  Overhearing (yes, I was being nosey I’ll admit it) a lady – fresh from her chemo treatment – discuss how the day of chemo she felt fine and even energized (it’s the day after when she has to explain to her son why mommy is tired.)  Finally being able to repay the random act of kindness Jamison and I received when parking – on the street, for free – for the Hawks Round 1, Game 1 playoffs game.  I was in line at Costco buying a slice of pepperoni pizza – one of my favorite lunches ever but almost 800 calories – and the lady in front of me had no cash.  Since she was obviously inexperienced in the cash-only ways of the Costco snack bar, I offered to pay for her caesar salad, which I’m sure would have been a WAY healthier option for me too.

Either way, all these little things added up to feeling truly jazzed about my life.  A few random events took me off course, but it’s really important for me to find a better way to keep things in perspective when they go awry.  These are the things I must remind myself of when times get hard…  Because all those little good things can somehow matter more than a few bad things.

Blow Your Paycheck Friday: Fendi Baguette

I read an article about the new book Fendi Baguette last week at the gym.  I always wanted a Fendi baguette when from back when I first started watching Sex and the City in 99.  (I love that Sarah Jessica Parker AKA Carrie is writing an excerpt for the book.)  I remember visiting a friend in Boston in summer of 2000 and there was a sequined Fendi baguette at the REAL Filene’s Basement on clearance for $499.  It was of course way out of my price range. so I only dreamed…  And even today, I still dream.  But with the re-release of the most popular Fendi baguettes, maybe it can be a reality.

When can I set aside around one thousand dollars for a baguette?  I wonder…

Girl Crush Wednesday: Ashley Madekwe

While I hate her lying, scheming character on “Revenge”, the English actress, Ashley Madekwe, is one gorgeous girl.

I don’t know what I love more – her skin, her hair, or her accent.  Why are we Americans such suckers for British accents?  It’s actually kinda hilarious.
