I love that this resort collection is so classically ladylike Chanel while being so crisp and modern (likely thanks to black and white graphic feel.)  I DIE for the yellow suit, the sprays of white and ivory, and all of the black and white swimwear:

New York Fashion Week looks like it rocked.

Diane von Furstenberg – bright colors and mix and match prints with hints of gold and great accessories (hello, shades!)

Jason Wu – loving the feathers, lace, sharp shapes and the bold graphic colors, especially the best tuxedo jacket I’ve ever laid my eyes on… it’s the best collection of the New York shows.  No wonder Jason Wu is both a fashion darling and a fave of Michelle Obama

L’Wren Scott – a collection for fall called A Tropical Conversation, I knew I’d love it at first sight

Marc by Marc Jacobs – a mash up of prints and slim silhouettes

Victoria Beckham – the ladylike shapes never stop and there are even loads of punchy colors, love the shawl neckline dress

Giambattista Valli – I love the sleek cuts and the colors – black, red, navy – but nothing tops the SICK leopard print fur coat.  If I could DIE for one thing on Earth, that would surely be it.

Matthew Williamson – a crazy collection of wildly colored, super cute cocktail dresses?  Matthew, we need to be besties. 😉

Valentino – frothy, sleek, ruffles, lavender… all in one brilliant collection.  I heart Valentino.

Celine – leather and silk and leopard print in perfectly cut slim silhouettes like cigarette pants and pencil skirts?  Why is fall going to continue to be full of my faves?  I actually NEED those silk cigarette pants!!!

Lanvin – what the coolest girl in the world wears, clearly

J. Mendel – SICK!  That is really all I can say about the floaty, blushy collection accented with fur-fection…

L.A.M.B. – loving the bright mash-up of mixed prints and interesting differences in proportion – so playful!  (BTW, Gwen – I NEED that white pantsuit for spring.  Hook me up!)

L’Wren Scott – per usual, the slim, womanly silhouettes are the feature

Marchesa – intricate details in fluffy chiffon in blushy, nude, white and black

Naeem Khan – his streak continues with bright colors, floaty prints and killer nude evening gowns

Rachel Roy – she managed to give us a little bit of everything – color, nude, flowy, fitted, prints… and I’m in love!

BCBG Max Azria – love the breezy nudes, whites with the pops of color

Christian Siriano – there are many different kinds of girls.  I am a Christian Siriano kind of girl.  I love the prints and especially the crazy gowns.  I am SO on his program, “hot tranny mess” and all.

Jason Wu – Is there a party sometime soon?  Red carpet event?  If so, can Jason Wu love me enough to dress me in one of his floaty, candy colored numbers?  Please… (puppy dogs eyes)

Nicole Miller – the sheer and cutouts in black and nude make for very interesting gear

Peter Som – layering flirty separates in brights, prints and whites while teetering in super high platforms makes you itch for spring

Elie Saab – red, metallics, neutral and pattern go crazy in this show!  I love the juxtaposition of short and long / flowy and structured with a vintage feeling.

Chanel – Karl went a little stuffy with the day suits – they all seem a bit too retro for my liking.  Then there were some looking ensembles in the middle.  And then the final ones got quite wacky…  Not so sure I’m in love this year. 😦  But at least I loved the giant lion backdrop (super glam):

While I did opt to not cover the menswear fashion shows, I couldn’t resist picking my favorite couture dresses.  I can’t wait to see which stylists share my tastes on the red carpet. 🙂

Armani Prive – metallic, sequins, column dress – am DYING!

Christian Dior – I’m not sure what I love more – the background or the bright colorful clothes in interesting shapes that are still figure flattering. OMG,  I want SO many of these pieces.

Christian Dior – if I was extremely disappointed by the Chanel resort show, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pressed for the Dior show I can’t even describe it!  The frothy shapes, bubble gum colors and killer gowns make me wish for some amazing summer occasions to wear them to…

Bottega Veneta – stark, simple silhouettes and a lot of black… where the heck is this resort Bottega Veneta is planning for?  Not really my beach scene apparently

So, I have been dying for pics from the Cannes film festival, but as I was setting up all of My Favorites on my new laptop (that arrived today!) I saw the photos from the 2011 Chanel resort collection.  Admittedly, it wasn’t the greatest Chanel collection I’ve ever seen, but it did make me happy it was spring:

Alexander McQueen – this collection was a great reveal of the true genius of Alexander McQueen and a reminder of how sad we are that his genius has moved on to the netherland – this was too regal!
