As a hard-core geek myself, I am a sucker for geeky television characters.  Jamison and I finally finished watching “The Middle,” and boy, do I love Sue Heck.  She is so insanely ridiculously funny in her own special “bless her heart” kind of way.  I especially loved it when she was dating the wrestler – I think his name was Matt.  His “please date me” Maori warrior-like chant was fantastic.  I’d chant for Sue.  🙂

As I read the latest edition of Cosmo (I’m counting down til the subscription ends, it’s really bad since I last read it in the late nineties), I was super inspired by the cover girl – Pink.  She is now a wife and a fantastic mother; she has come a LONG way since “There You Go” all those years ago.  And did I mention her super sick body?

She makes me really want a platinum blonde mohawk. 😉

I’ve slowly convinced myself to enjoy the new HBO show, “Girls.”  It took a while, but I find it hilariously insanely wrong.  There are some saving graces, like how gorgeous Allison Williams is – even if her character is pretty sad right now post-breakup.

I hope Marni’s story gets better soon.  It’s way sad for me right now.  Although I’m sure I was even more pathetic than her at some point in my 20’s over some boy or other.

While I hate her lying, scheming character on “Revenge”, the English actress, Ashley Madekwe, is one gorgeous girl.

 I don’t know what I love more – her skin, her hair, or her accent.  Why are we Americans such suckers for British accents?  It’s actually kinda hilarious.

I have a lot of TV guilty pleasures these days.  And I promise I will let go of a lot of them soon to make the way for bigger and better things… eventually.  But tonight, I am at home decompressing after a rough workout with some “Jerseylicious” viewing.  I must admit it – even though Olivia Blois is a self-proclaimed gaudy, tacky, over-the-top diva, I adore her.  I must admit I am not into her wildly smoky eye, but her blue-black hair and extreme bronze and those dimples… I adore her.  But Olivia, trust me, the drama is very 19 years old.  You’re a grownup now.  And you’re on TV all over America.  Little girls are watching.  You’re a role model, whether you know it or like it or not.  At least you are a cutie:

After a way-too-long absence, I have decided to bring back the girl crush series with a girl that I find keeps getting hotter and hotter, Rihanna.  I saw Drake’s video for “Take Care” and trust me, RiRi was the only redeeming element of the visual and/or audio.  I am really into her chameleon, all-the-way-bad-girl yet high-class fashionista look:

The Academy Awards Red Carpet inspired me to pick Emma Stone as this week’s girl crush.  How far she’s come since Superbad.

Who knew there was a glamazon sexpot under there?  I don’t know whether I prefer the red or blonde!

It’s taken me a really long time to write this post.  I have been feeling torn about what to write about the untimely death of Whitney Houston.  First off, it is very sad.  Poor Bobbi Kristina is only 18 years old and will have to navigate the rest of her life without her mommy.  It brought me back to when my father died unexpectedly last year.  These young people who die unexpectedly – well, their deaths are rarely TRULY unexpected.  My dad had years of uncontrolled high blood pressure and alcohol abuse before he died last year at the age of 52.  Whitney struggled for years with her own demons – alcohol, drugs, who knows what else.  And now she is dead.

But boy, didn’t she fill our lives with joy?  Her songs are truly the soundtrack of my life – even more than Micheal Jackson.  She showed us you can be talented and loving and well, human.  None of us is perfect.  We all strive to be the best version of ourselves and each day we make some progress.  Unfortunately, Whitney did not have enough time to become her best self.  Either way, we have gotten to see a wonderful talent for nearly 30 years.  And somewhere there is a bright star shining for her light, extinguished too soon.

May her voice, “The Voice,” always inspire us to feel joyous and remember her spirit.
